WAN Project for the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited

WAN Project for the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited was inaugurated by the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at Baroda on May 4, 2003 by conducting a Multi Conferencing session with CE / ACE of all zonal levels and Gandhinagar Thermal Power Station.

The GUVNL WAN Project is a very prestigious Project for GIPL looking at the sheer size and services to be offered on the network. The Phase I of the project aims at connecting all the Zonal Offices namely Baroda, Surat, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Mehsana, Gandhinagar TPS and Wanakbori TPS to the Baroda HO in order to offer VIDEO, VOICE and DATA Connectivity. The Phase II of the project would aim at connecting all Circle Offices, Transmission Circle Offices and remaining TPS to the network. The Phase III of the project has been envisaged to connect the divisional and sub divisional offices.

The salient features of the network are:

The network consists of all the major media types namely- RADIO, FIBER, COPPER and VSAT
The network has wholly been designed to work on IP, this allows ease of upgradeability, manageability and future expansion.
IP based EPABX, Multi Conferencing Equipment are the major Equipments as part of this network.

This has been the first time that GIPL has handled a project of this magnitude
